What is a Triathlon?

A triathlon is made up of three different activities without stopping in between. If you’ve never done one before, find out what will happen on the day.

Stage 1 – Swimming

A triathlon begins with the swim. You will be swimming with lots of other children, so make sure you focus on your swim, keep an eye on the end of the pool and don’t worry about anyone else. There will be life guards on hand - if you need them they will be there.

Transition

Out of the pool and on to your bike. You will need to put your shoes, t.shirt and helmet on as quickly as possible.

Stage 2 – Cycling

Get onto your bike as quick as you can. Follow the bike track – helpers will guide you round the course.

Transition

Back into the transition area, get off your bike and remove your helmet and leave them there.

Stage 3 – Running

This is the last bit, if you are feeling a bit tired, take your time. Remember, this is not a race it is about doing your best. Look where you are going and focus on getting round and finishing.

Finish

Well done, you did it!
